Dr. Trey Martindale, Department Head for Instructional Systems and Workforce Development, was the keynote speaker for the 2019 Hong Kong Association for Educational Communications and Technology Convention (HKAECT). He was invited to speak on the future of higher education, and particularly on the role that online education will play as institutions strategize about the future of teaching and learning.

Participants in the convention came from across Asia, and were part of this four-day annual event in Hong Kong. Dr. Martindale was previously elected and served as President of the international Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), and he gave an additional presentation about the activities and strategic plan for AECT. Originally based in the United States, AECT is comprised of over 2000 scholars in educational technology from 29 countries.

Martindale noted “It was invigorating to collaborate and learn with both new and veteran scholars I know from Hong Kong, China, Japan, and other nations at HKAECT. I’m pleased also to share my work in online learning at Mississippi State University with interested parties around the globe. There are extensive opportunities for international collaboration, and meetings like this open the door for our faculty and students to pursue scholarly exchange and knowledge generation.”
