MSU College of Education recognizes fall semester outstanding teacher interns

Nine Mississippi State University College of Education graduates were recently recognized as outstanding teacher interns for the fall 2020 semester.

Nominated by their university supervisors, the award honorees are selected based on their resourcefulness, initiative, and effectiveness. Those recognized have demonstrated outstanding teaching performance, professionalism, and a high level of commitment to the teaching profession. The teacher interns completed their internships at various public-school systems throughout Mississippi.

The teacher interns receiving the Outstanding Teacher Intern Awards include (by hometown):

COLUMBIA – Garyn Miller, an elementary education/middle school major. Miller completed her internship at the West Marion Primary School in Marion County School District.

FRANKLIN, Louisiana – David Jenkins, a music education/instrumental major. Jenkins completed his internship at Starkville High School in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.

HENDERSON, Tennessee – Abbie Pruett, an elementary education/middle school major. Pruett completed her internship at Henderson/Ward Stewart in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.

HERNANDO – Laura Isom, an elementary education/middle school major. Isom completed her internship at Southaven Intermediate School in the Desoto County School District.

LAUREL – Chloe Montesdeoca, a special education major. Montesdeoca completed her internship at Mason Elementary School in the Laurel School District.

MATHISTON – Hagen Jones, a secondary education/math major. Jones completed her teaching internship at Eupora High School in the Webster County School District.

SOSO – Callie Shows, a special education major and Savanah Shows, an elementary education major. Callie completed her internship at Glade Elementary School in the Jones County School District. Savanah completed her internship at Fifth Street School in the West Point Consolidated School District.

SUMRALL – Carmin Childs, a secondary education/biology major. Childs completed her internship at East Webster High School in the Webster County School District.
