STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s College of Education welcomes Starkville native and university alumna as its communications specialist.

Camille Carskadon is a 2012 MSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in communication and an emphasis in journalism. After her time at Mississippi State, she earned her master’s degree in writing in 2014 from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

As communications specialist, she is responsible for the College of Education’s branding efforts, promoting the college through written and digital communication, developing the college’s magazine, newsletters and website, as well as managing social media.

In discussing Carskadon’s appointment, Dean Richard Blackbourn said, “the College of Education is excited to have a person of Camille’s caliber joining our ranks. Clearly, her academic background and relevant work experience make her a perfect fit for the position.”

Carskadon most recently worked for MSU’s Office of Public Affairs, where she served as social media coordinator since February 2017. Before joining MSU, she worked as the executive editor of a regional magazine in Starkville for two years.

“As a Starkville native, it’s a dream to be a part of the MSU family and be able to use my experience to help the College of Education,” said Carskadon. “As communications specialist, I look forward to promoting not only the College of Education, but Mississippi State University as well.”
