The College of Education was pleased to welcome over 50 students from all over the state of Mississippi to campus this week for Camp Inspire. Camp INSPIRE 2018 is a camp for upcoming Mississippi high school juniors and seniors (2018-2019) who have expressed an interest in K-12 education and are enrolled in a Teacher Academy Program in their high school or vocational center. The overall goal of Camp INSPIRE 2018 is to encourage students to enter the field of education and to help guide them on the path to becoming effective teachers for Mississippi children. We in the college believe that the best way to accomplish this is through our teacher education programs at Mississippi State University. Offering high school students an opportunity to stay in our new construction residence halls will give them a taste of what college life is all about – more than they would experience through pictures or videos. We want students to fall in love with MSU and join the Bulldog Family!

The camp consisted of veteran educators as guest speakers, several small group activity sessions in students’ academic areas of interests facilitated by MSU faculty and staff, campus tours, recreation at Sanderson Center, etc. Camp INSPIRE 2018 will be an engaging and interactive experience focused on building students’ interest in K-12 education.
