MERIDIAN, Miss.—Mississippi State University-Meridian’s Division of Education recently co-hosted the Thriving Women’s Luncheon, drawing more than 300 attendees to celebrate the strength and resilience of women.
Held at MSU-Meridian’s Kahlmus Auditorium in partnership with Aaron Stephen’s Consulting, the event honored survivors of cancer, domestic abuse and premature birth. Nearly 100 MSU students, faculty and staff participated in the luncheon, including all school psychology, counseling and school administration students.
“These students will work with children, individuals and families who may be navigating similar experiences, making the luncheon a particularly meaningful opportunity to develop greater awareness, empathy and understanding,” said Kimberly R. Hall, associate dean and division head. “The event reflects the Division of Education’s commitment to providing meaningful educational experiences that extend beyond the classroom. By integrating academic programming with community engagement, we are helping prepare future educators, counselors, school psychologists and educational leaders who understand the importance of supporting the individuals, families and communities they will serve.”
The luncheon was part of Saturdays in Meridian, a broader Division of Education initiative designed to promote academic engagement, student development and community involvement. Launched this fall, select Saturdays provide opportunities for students enrolled in hybrid programs to engage in face-to-face academic programming, connect with faculty and peers, and participate in meaningful learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
MSU’s College of Education, home of the MSU-Meridian's Division of Education, also includes five academic departments, one research unit and numerous service units.
