Early Intervention Assistive Technology Demonstration and Lending Center

Early Intervention Assistive Technology Demonstration and Lending Center

Summary/Abstract:
The T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability will develop Assitive Technology Demonstration and Lending Centers in each of Mississippi's nine Public Health Districts which will offer families/caregivers of children birth to age three access to assistive technology devices and services. The project will establish an Assistive Technology Resource Center unique to each Public Health District. The Center will house an assistive technology lending library, provide demonstrations of assistive technology and provide a place for parents and caregivers to create low tech materials such as picture communication boards and adapted books to assist with their child's development. The project staff will coordinate efforts with all state agencies that provide assistive technology services to children birth to age three.
