Music Department hosts Band Directors Workshop

Offering two and a half days of professional development and networking, the Mississippi State University department of Music held their annual Band Directors Workshop at Pearl High School June 13-15. While culminating a variety of sessions and instructional practice, the event hosted 40 band directors at all levels from three different states.  Clinicians for the workshop included: Pearl High School band directors Matt Rowan and Matt Pickering, retired Philadelphia High School band director Tom Henry, Dr. Barry E. Kopetz head of the MSU department of Music, Mark and Sharon Laird of West Jones High School and Oak Grove High School, respectively, Marc Johnson and Jean Wells of Mississippi Music, and headliners Paula Corley and Scott Rush.  Sponsors for the workshop included Mississippi Music, Amro Music, Van Doren, Buffet Instruments, Pearl High School, and the Famous Maroon Band.
