Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Graduate students in the College of Education's department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education collaborated to help students at Sudduth Elementary School this June. Students enrolled in the Masters of Elementary Education Struggling Readers and Writers course spent their time working with first graders and Kindergarten students in the local district’s elementary school.  Students developed activities using research-based materials to help participating children improve their literacy and writing skills. College of Education students also received experience by helping with the JumpStart program by helping administer the Mississippi Department of Education’s Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA).
